The Denver Broncos have acquired quarterback Mark Sanchez from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional draft pick. Broncos general manager John Elway tweeted “Today we have acquired QB Mark Sanchez for a 2017 pick. He brings veteran leadership and will compete.
This is our first step in the process”. The draft pick heading the Philly is a seventh round pick. Sanchez, 29, appeared in four games for the Eagles last season starting in two of them. He threw for 616 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
After being a first round pick for the Jets, he earned the nickname ” The Sanchize” with trips to the AFC championship game in each of his first two seasons. Sanchez injured his throwing shoulder during the 2013 preseason and was replaced by Geno Smith. After being released by the Jets, Sanchez went on to sign with the Eagles in 2014.
